Stressed

This is the very first that I felt very stressful after becoming a temporary cashier for the pharmacy I'm working in.

Becoming a cashier is very stressful if its working under this my boss.

She will unintentionally give you some pressure and you cant afford to make mistakes.

She will become a bit emotional and unstable, which I think its a weakness in doing business.

I just cant wait for December to end and get my salary!

I want to get my DSLR ASAP!!

Hard to express love

It has very hard to express love to somebody.

Liking someone is easy but trying to make sure that someone likes you or not is hard!!

I found out that I liked a girl which she is quite cute and pretty. She is the same program with me, but unfortunately this semester i didn't have any class which is same with hers.

It is also quite hard to meet her and date her. haha

But fortunately I met her on my way when I am walking to somewhere and when I'm going to lunch.

Missing her quite much.

Debate on Friday

I have a debate coming up this friday, and my group is agaisnt this topic: "Home Work should be banned".

This topic looks easy but its also quite difficult. We need to find out all of the benefits and positiveeffects of home work, and i think it won't be a problem.

Feels weird doing this question, as I was a person that dislike home work. Haha!!

Anyway, this is my first time doing debate. Nervousness is inevitable. I didn't really know how debate is going about. Hope I will do well on friday.

Ghost Stories

Every place has its own ghost stories to tell, including Inti college.

I've heard a number of stories in Inti and some is quite scary.

I've even seen one or two inside our Inti's multi-purpose hall. Black shadow, swooping past behind me and disappear. At first I thought I'm imagining things up but later on I found out that its true. Strangely enough I'm not scared and I even have the urge of wanting to see them again.

I even seen one in the forest near a waterfall. It was white in color, I can't see the face, and it was just standing there watching. It was 5.30am in the morning!!

After I woke up I told my friends, and they asked me not to scared them. Haha.

Anyway, we do not need to be afraid of them because they just won't harm us!!

Latin Dance

Just finished my latin dance class!!

We are learning a new dance, Rumba.

I've learned Jive and Cha Cha... and Rumba is quite similar to Cha Cha.

Although it was slower than Cha Cha, but it emphasize more on techniques and body gestures, and this was something not so easy.

But it was fun I enjoyed latin dance very much!!

Characteristics of An Effective Public Speaker

This is my next assignment's topic "Characteristics of An Effective Public Speaker". Although it seems quite easy but actually its not.

I have search for the answers on the Internet and this is what I get:

1. ** Never memorize your speech **

One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to try memorizing your speach. Why do people do this? Because it's a way to make sure they don't stumble during the speech. In other words, it's to alleviate their fear of getting lost, stumbling, or getting overly nervous.

However, memorizing can in fact, make matters worse! First, you could sound like a machine or robot. And that can bore people or make them wonder if you even know your stuff. Second, it can create problems is someone interrupts you or your lose your train of thought. And third, it can make you even more nervous because you may constantly worry if you'll stay on script.

So the best thing you can do is not memorize every single word. Just let your actual words flow naturally. Your audience will like that much more!

2. ** Be prepared **

Preparation in public speaking is an absolute must, even for those who regularly give speeches. Every audience is different because people are never exactly the same. So the dynamics of your audience will vary each and every time you give your speech.

By preparation, I mean making sure you've got your materials--notecards, handouts, projector, etc ready to go. And if you're bringing handouts, make sure you have enough copies--always have extras just in case! Also, make sure you test out the projector if you'll need one.

3. ** Be confident **

When you give a speech, you are the one the audience is focused on. So you need to show confidence in what you have to say. If you don't sound confident, then I won't believe you and/or I'll get bored.

This means using a powerful voice that shows confidence, knowledge, and command of the material! And make sure your voice is loud enough for people in the back and on the sides to hear you. Yet, you don't want to blast too loudly that the people up front will go deaf.

Sometimes, you may have a microphone and speakers to help amplify (increase) your voice. But other times, you may not. If not, then make sure you don't speak too loudly that you'll loose your voice or hurt your vocal cords.

4. ** Organization **

A good speech is like a great essay or book. It has an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. And all this is centered on a specific goal to accomplish. In other words, there's a main point your speech is making.

Your intro should tell audience members who you are, what you'll be speaking about in general, and what they'll learn or walk out with in the end. Your body should provide all the details and information necessary to accomplish your speech's goal. And your conclusion should provide some follow-up, summarize key points made during your speech, and possibly allow for some audience questions (Q&A).

If anyone of you are going to encounter a public speaking situation, these pointers can help you.

Sunday morning

Today(September 14, 2008) is moon cake festival for all Chinese around the world.

The hostel is very lifeless since many students went back to their hometown to celebrate the festival with their family.

It is so quiet and peaceful and yet its so boring not to see many friends around.

Maybe i will go out and buy some moon cake to indulge in.

Ha ha!!

Public Speaking - 2nd presentation

The 2nd presentation was to talk about something that impacted my life.

It took me 2-3 days to think about what i wanted to say until my friend gave me an inspiration.

I ended up talking about Adventure Club.

I get a fairly good grade for that presentation. I still have some improvements to do and i believe i can do it better for the next presentation.

Public Speaking - 1st presentation

After enrolling in public speaking class, i was nervous and excited!

I feel nervous because I've heard that we will be having 2 micro-presentation every week for 5 weeks and excited because i can train my public speaking skills and building up my confidence.

The first assignment my lecturer gave us is to introduce a friend in 1 minute. This assignment sound easy but actually its not so easy as it seems.

I met up with my friend and interviewed him to get some info about himself so that i can introduce him in front of the class. In the end, i end up with a written speech of what i wanted to say.

When the day comes, after our presentation, our lecturer told us that a 1 minute presentation shouldn't have a speech. But since this was our first presentation she left us off the hook.

That was my first presentation in my public speaking class
